Clark S. Colvin conducts corporate restructuring, mergers and acquisitions (M&A), turnaround management, interim CEO services and seminars worldwide. He is the creator of “Holistic Restructuring;” a reorganization program that changes the financial structure of a corporation to mirror the organizational and human structure of the corporation whereby all responsibility centers and product lines are viewed and critically dissected in separate profit and loss statements as well as in relation to the whole enterprise. Importantly, since 1995 he has been internationally recognized as a corporate finance and organization expert by over forty acclaimed European institutions. Arguably today he is one of the top corporate restructuring and turnaround specialists in the United States.
Since he founded CSC Capital Group (CSC) in 1992, Colvin has restructured over seventy-five U.S. (in over thirty states), and a few Canadian and U.K. companies (from 1 million to over l billion dollars in annual sales), where on over one-third of the engagements he was appointed Interim CEO. His first time as Interim CEO occurred in 1993, his latest in 2008; and his first M&A deal was in 1996, buying Montavilla Lumber Company. CSC Capital Group’s five separate divisions are CSC Capital, Fountainhead Ventures, Southern Crossing Advisors, Seven Peaks Management, and CSCC Global. His business and management consulting career began in 1987.
His accomplishments with CSC include increasing profit margins from 10% to 25%, generating millions of dollars of additional cash flow, increasing stockholders net worth by tens of millions of dollars, the raising of working capital lines of credit and debt financing during turnarounds, advising buyers and sellers in M&A transactions, as well as personally implementing overall corporate transformation programs. From 1997-98 he oversaw as CEO the turnaround of a multi-state 5th generation company with over 500 million in annual sales, and in 2004-06 he personally restructured two companies with over 100 million dollar annual sales. In 2007 he saved one the largest building material buying groups in the U.S., and in 2008-09, he conducted the turnaround of the largest southern Florida construction supply dealer, in arguably the worst hit economic regions in the U.S.
Since 1995 Colvin has on over three dozen occasions been interviewed and/or published in several leading business journals; such as the Daily Journal of Commerce, The Business Report, Pro Dealer Magazine, Do-it-Yourself Retailing, Home Channel News, and he was named as a top management consultant in the U.S. according to Hardware Retailing August 2007 article “Is it Time for an Outside Opinion.” Another timely CSC article entitled “What to look for in a Turnaround Specialist” was published in the November 2007 issues of Building Products Digest and Merchant Magazine. Of note, his article entitled “Up Up and Away,” published in August 2002 by Pro Sales Magazine foretold the coming of the current housing, construction and banking/credit crisis. Finally, his biographical profile was showcased in the January 2009 issue of the Oxbridge NW Newsletter, an alumni publication, where he went on record mentioning his grave concerns with government “bailout” actions.
Further, he has been featured as a guest seminar speaker for major corporations, such as True Value Corporation, Builders Mart of America, Lumbermen’s Merchandising Corporation (LMC) and for the Independent Builders Supply Association (IBSA). Importantly, in 2003, he was the keynote speaker for the Western Building Materials Association’s 100th anniversary convention. Due to his reputation The Accountware Group (Austin, TX) and Infotech Global (Chicago, IL) hired him in 2009 to conduct business turnaround seminars in major cities across the U.S. Of note, the finance committees of both LMC and IBSA, two of America’s most respected building material buying groups, consider Colvin and CSC as the their preferred restructuring, M&A and turnaround specialist and firm.
